Wood is ideal for chicken coops as it’s sturdy, insulating, and easy to work with. Metal or plastic can also be used for durability.
Each chicken needs at least 3-4 square feet inside the coop and 8-10 square feet in the run for comfort and health.
Remove droppings daily, change bedding weekly, and deep clean the coop monthly to prevent odors and disease.
A coop should have roosting bars, nesting boxes, proper ventilation, a feeder, a waterer, and clean bedding for the chickens.
Use reinforced mesh, secure locks, raise the coop off the ground, and close all gaps to keep predators out.
